Talking Football
Will Belize ever improve in international Football?
What do Belize need to do to improve in Football internationally? Are they doing it? Dr. Bertie Chimilio has been and will be at the helm of the Football Federation of Belize for a total of 12 years! We are talking football here not running a country. What progress has been made during this time? As an outsider looking in there doesn’t seem to be any improvements. Granted, Belize have more important areas to improve on; but when war torn countries and little islands are ranked ahead of us then we must be doing something wrong. Even the website is a joke. How can we get better? Or, maybe this poor showing is a demonstration of a national lacking in areas of our society and culture as a whole??? Any thoughts or solutions? Maybe someone closer to home can share these observations with Dr. Chimilio himself.
I think there are greater concerns than football to worry about in Belize. I agree that the national football team should not be a top priority. That being said, it is time for Chimilio to go and let someone else take over the Federation… hopefully it won’t be the same person in charge for another decade unless there are some better results. War torn countries and smaller islands may be ranked ahead of Belize, but this is really nothing to ashamed of. Keep supporting the team. It takes character to support Belize.
