Should I microchip my dog?
Many pet owners are encouraged to microchip your pet to help recover them if lost or stolen. As breeder of 11 + years, we always encourage pet owners to microchip their puppies. However, some states are requiring mandatory microchip. I had never heard of this until the other day when I came across a website that seemed written by a dog activist. Their website seemed to be policy-oriented dog, if you will, but I found it interesting anyway. The site goes on to say he believes that the mandatory microchip is an invasion of privacy and freedoms civil rights of all dog owners and such laws have a major impact on the daily lives of pet owners, especially those with specific breeds, such as Pitbull, Rottweiler, Doberman, etc.
The article continues saying he believes that the mandatory microchip laws require owners of dogs chipping of dogs. This would allow local government to monitor and control the dogs and their owners. I honestly do not see what the problem, but maybe I'm not a very political person and I have nothing to hide. Personally, I find that every time I hear a child or a person being attacked by a dog, nine out of ten Sometimes it was caused by a Pitbull. Too many people are using Pitbulls and Rottweilers as fighting dogs and is a known fact gangs use dogs to protect their property because they too are illegal things happening. Of course, the problem is not just a problem with the dogs mentioned. It is the violence and the type of people who own of these dogs that are causing the problems.
The other issue politically charged animal rights activists say are problems with the micro-chip is that the chips are causing cancer in dogs that have been scratched. I do not know if this theory is only based on an article, but allegedly one of a 9-year-old male French Bulldog was examined by a veterinarian for a subcutaneous mass located at the site of a microchip implant. Cytological examination of the mass was suggestive of a neoplasm mesenchymal neoplasm. The lymphoid cells were positive for CD18 and CD3. No aluminum deposits were detected by the aurintricarboxylic acid method. A diagnosis of fibrosarcoma morphologically similar to feline sarcomas after injection was made after extensive testing. Fibrosarcomas at the injection site have been reported in dogs and ferrets. Furthermore, neoplastic growth at the site of microchip implant in dogs and laboratory rodents has been described. But who can say that indeed, this type of cancer was caused by the chip? Sure seems suspicious, but how many other dogs and cats were found to have the same type of cancer after having a micro-chip implanted? Enough to convince me that we must now stop microchip our pets? If we all microchip to worry that our family pets in some way to give the government greater access to our lives?
Or are these fears only suggested by some paranoid activists who believe we should be worried about why states are making a micro-chip law to our family pets? Is there any difference between a sex offender and owner of dog? Not according to the meeting a petition to stop the states to make mandatory microchip your pet! While I agree with this notion, many have the same beliefs as their only further strengthen the government in our lives, maintaining owner information Pet stored in databases of his government. Called "spy chips" by most of the activists, mandatory microchip dog breeding and family pets have been through Florida and Texas. Other states are proposing the same legislation that was passed, including New York.
Above all, I have to say that I think your family pet and breeding dogs microchip is a good thing. For starters, your help in identifying the breeder breeding their dogs if they have dogs that are almost identical in appearance and size to include same sex. It helps identify the dog if the dog from a pet owner should be lost or stolen. A micro-chip will help your pet find their way back home if he or she will somehow leave the house and is picked up by animal control or a humane society service or other scanning devices have micro-chip. I have a micro-chip scanning device and use it if I find a dog wandering the streets. Necklaces can be removed but a microchip is forever! A micro-chip really last a lifetime dog and the capsule is very, very small. About the size of a grain of rice. Many breeders and dog owners to microchip their dogs and cats on a voluntary basis. I do not think we should be so paranoid as to believe that the government is now going to see us through of our pets. Micro chip is becoming very popular not only with animals, but for credit cards and humans alike. The following article was written about American Express plans:
"The high command of American Express, disgusted by the discovery of his people to follow up the plans, met with CASPIAN (Consumers Against Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Numbering) last week to discuss the issue. One outcome of the meeting was a promise of American Express to review its entire patent portfolio and ensure that all people tracking plans be accompanied by language requiring consumer notice and consent. The meeting was organized after CASPIAN called attention to one of enterprise applications for patents is more problematic. The application patent, entitled "Method and system for providing a shopping experience," describes a Minority Report-style model for monitoring consumers through RFID-enabled objects, like the American Express Blue Card.
According to the patent, RFID readers called "consumer trackers" is placed in the shelf of the store to pick up "consumer identification signals" emitted by RFID-embedded objects carried by shoppers. These would be used to identify people, track their movements and observe their behavior. "
The article goes on to further discuss on the topics of your use tracking devices and while some were indifferent to the idea, some were opposed to a large extent. Just another big brother approach to intervene? The VeriChip implant is a glass encapsulated RFID tag that is injected into the meat in a unique way the number and identify people or pets for that matter. The label may be read by radio waves (scanners) from a few centimeters away. The highly controversial device is being marketed as a way to access safe areas, link to medical records, and serve as a payment instrument when associated with a credit card or prepaid account. But is all hyped up worry as we saw when the bar code "has been introduced? Many people opposed the bar code on items bought in supermarkets and shops but it seems that we have today includes bar codes, which will not have to think twice. I think after all the fuss is turned off, the same as saying on the micro-chip implant. Once something of the future, micro-chip is making headway in the market for all kinds of reasons of utility.
