Speak Spell
Anyone else annoyed by people who can not write or speak properly?
It makes a person seem less intelligent than they actually are given credit. Please do not jump on me for asking this question, I'm just curious to see how many others feel the same way.

How to skip SharePoint spellchecker for an input control
This may seem strange at first, but today I received an email mail from our support engineer says:
Hello!
When doing spell check list as the field type cascading you are getting this error:
Please help
Well … I know What You're thinking … this guy has some serious typos, Right?
The thing is that this text was not actually a user input text – which was a hidden text box. You see, for debugging purposes sometimes use text boxes with style = "display: none" instead of input type: "hidden" fields.
While spelling SharePoint ignores hidden entries, do not jump hidden text boxes, so that our text box receives the same treatment as all entries of other users of the page.
In our Search also cascade type hidden input field used to store information from subsequent backups. We believe it is important that users do not ask correct spelling of these controls, much less try to fix it!
So, after searching unsuccessfully MS documentation (big surprise eh?) I found a blog post alone speaks of the role of SharePoint spell check, and specifically how to register a control that should be excluded spell checking.
It proved to be a fairly simple, all you need do is add excludeFromSpellCheck = "true" to any control input and do not want it done!
PS The funny thing is that the SharePoint picker control people on the ground also spell check, prompting users in your domain name or user names …
Maybe there will be a fix for that one day too …
For now – at least we can update our field checks and other web parts accordingly.
Good luck and happy SharePointing!
Shai.
