Race Track
How to get a job at a racetrack?
No race track not far from a form of me, maybe 20-25 minutes. It called Portland Meadows. I am interested in becoming a boyfriend, or really anything. I just need a job and am willing to do anything. How get a job at a racetrack? Incidentally, I have been riding since age 11, and I have lots of experience working with / training barrel horses.
You must obtain a license to work at a racetrack. Oregon has a pretty good guide available online to help people who want to obtain a licensed to work in the back of a race track: http://www.oregon.gov/RACING/docs/ORC_Licensee_Manual_100109.pdf Basically, unless you go to work for a father who works in the back, you must have a minimum of 15 years of age. That is his first obstacle. There are lots of things in the guide does not apply to a entry level job, which would be as a groom or hot walker, but it is good to go only through the guide to familiarize yourself with some of the rules and regulations applied to the management of racehorses. This page on the site of the Oregon Racing Commission has a license application to download: http://www.oregon.gov/RACING/licensing.shtml Will open in Word for Windows, if you have on your computer. To get a job, is to find out which coaches are hiring track. You can go on this in different ways: we can ask the security guard at the door of the riders on the line if anyone is hiring, and if so you can talk to them. Or you can go in the morning to practice, and try to find out who's hiring pilots talking to pony or boyfriends. Basically, you need to find a coach you're looking for help and then the interview with the coach. There is no central office that can be applied to each coach hires his own stable and that its own aid interviews. Even if people do not know first talking to someone who is hiring, keep at it by asking if he may tell you more to talk to, if you know of any other person who is hiring. You can also look around and find the training centers and nearby farms that make last-minute training for the track and sit-ups back on track. I'm not familiar with the Oregon racing scene, but it is likely that several farms or training centers not too far of the tracks, and these too are potential places to work. This is a couple of web sites related to careers in Oregon that may be helpful: http://www.oregonracing.com/index.html http://www.oregontoba.com/ Hope that helps. Good luck!
