Puppy Flip
My puppy is 4 months old and her ears are irritated where they flip back the wrong way. What should I do?
She’s a Great Dane and she has long floppy ears. The problem is: when her ear flips over the wrong way on top of her head, she doesn’t quite have the common sense to shake her head and fix it. Because of this, both her ears have become irritated exactly where they fold backward.
Any suggestions on what’s best to clean the irritations with (they have actually scabbed over) or how to prevent them from getting worse?
((We have a vet appointment next week… but looking for answers anyways!))
Commonsense to flip her ears back over?? Maybe she likes them that way? Maybe her ears are warm inside?
The crease shouldn’t be irritated, especially to the point that they are scabby… There has to be something wrong with the ear.. The vet can tell you what it is.. But just wearing her ears flipped back isn’t going to make them scabby..
Did you look down in her ear for infection.. I think it’s likely that she is scratching them and opening them up rather than the fold being irritated.
