Pink Flower
Please identify this pink flower?
This beautiful pink flower looks cool, but I don’t know what it is, and need a more detailed description for this page of my site. Any common and/or scientific names and history would be appreciated:

The photo is Lavatera, commonly known as Tree Mallow. I would guess a Lavatera thuringiaca (syn. L. clementii) type but cannot be certain – but I’m about 90% sure. There are about 10 or more different Lavatera species.
Lavatera is in the Malvaceae family, which also contain Malva, Hibiscus, Sidalcea and Alcea to name a few. All have the similar “hibiscus-like” or “hollyhock-like” flowers. Lavatera is a Perennial Herb/Shrub that has a evergreen/semi-evergreen habit. It is drought & coastal tolerant. It makes a good cut flower, border, hedge & screen plant. Butterflies are attracted to the flowers and they bloom in summer. Depending on the variety, they grow from 4 feet and up to 10 feet or more. You plant in full sun with moderate to dry water conditions. It is hardy to USDA Z6. They are not very long lived and have been known to just up and die on you. This isn’t too bad because they grow quite quickly.

You can catch the eyes of the passerby with this original idea. Imagine a lump of flowers right in the center of your garden at home, which is in a rustic style.
