How do you interact with your newborn baby?

What do you do to interact and help your infant learns when they are awake and in the "alert" stage? My son is 10 days old and I like to rub him and talk to him and hug him and sing with him while awake, but I was interested in knowing what people else did.

My children are older now, but I read all the time. The words are so important. Even when babies are very young, are already seeing the mouth and learn to speak. I think speaking and reading are some of the best things you can do for your child. Even now, when we go to a store, my kids perfer to buy books with their diets instead of toys. Rubbing is also good. Look up in massage line baby and learn some techniques. I found that when they were difficult days and nights, a good massage always helped! Congratulations on your new acquisition.
