The adapter is made by real generic. ILAN Elec.Ltd. AC Adapter, Model: F19603J, I'm thinking of trying to use on laptop .. I'm trying to save this laptop from IBM help. Thanks daughter.Called to everyone for their help and suggestions James

The real power is much higher in the generic so you should be fine. Power is voltage times current. (65 watts vs 58 watts). The internal team will have a voltage step and a surge protector for when you leave the cable, which should be good enough. You will not shutdown immediately if you are worried. If you turn it on and nothing happens, unplug the power cord and find the appropriate cable. Still though, keep an eye out for a power source that is closest to the factory settings. Probably better in the long term. At 3 years old, probably will need new batteries, too.
