Bangkok International Festival of Dance and Music
Thailand is wonderful, an incredibly different place when it comes to culture, tradition, customs and history. The concept of this festival grew out of an urgent need to put Thailand on the world cultural destination on the map and also as a way to reintroduce the culture in Bangkok, that was rapidly becoming modernized. There were cultural issues in the hospitality of the big city and everyday life, so the steps were taken to introduce the first Bangkok International Festival of Dance and Music in 1999. The festival was dedicated to His Majesty King Bhumibol as an honor on his birthday sixth cycle.
From its inception, the Bangkok International Festival of dance and music has been a great success, drawing acclaimed international artists and one year at a local mass and tourist crowd. The festival takes place between September and October of each year, the venue and ticket prices vary annually. Tickets are available through Thailand Cultural Centre.
