Car Truck

Car Truck
What was the last truck or car to be built with no computer chips?

I want to buy an older car or truck that has absolutely no computer systems or chips controlling any aspect of it. Therefore, I want to know when they started using them and what the last makes / models / years that did not use them were.

I don’t know which model holds the record, but by 1980 computerized engine control was starting to appear in a wide range of makes and models. Electronic ignition led the way and simple engine controls (including the awful feedback carburetors) were common by the mid 1980s. I think OBD I showed up about then.

I had a 1970 Volvo 145 that had no electronics except the radio, and that was the last one I had. My son had a 1982 Subaru that was still all old school, without even electronic ignition (which was a problem – the ignition was horrible).

I think you will have to look at late 1970s models or some very early 1980s models to find What You are looking for.
