Can anyone explain why a 1974 Pontiac GTO in perfect condition is not a car collector?
I have a hatchback I have very cheap and tidy. It seems only about 1k of them were made, who knows how many exist.
In 1974, automakers were struggling with the requirements of EPA. As a result, the yield dropped (already mentioned). I am looking at new cars when this happened, and often the V-8 version of a car only occurs 20 HP more then the I6. Reliability also comes into play in this. The state of the art at that time was based on electro-mechanical vacuum controls. There was a prone to failure. Compounding the problem was the use of cheaper steel and paint. Cars of this age are prone to cancer of the body. After Pontiac (Buick, Oldsmobile and) began to put GM Chevrolet engines in the lines of another car at some point in this era. As for being a vintage car, expect the value to start uploading when we get out of this economic problem. I will quote the value of the Mustang II, which for years was ridiculed and laughed at the Mustang crowd. Now that almost all examples that have been rejected out finally accepted as a rare horse. The same can happen for the 1974 GTO.
