why does the baby Teddy Bear hamsters eat each others heads off?
there are or was 4 baby hamsters in the same cage and have been there for about a week together and we looked in the cage today and three of the babys was eating the others head off. Why is that?
It’s just the rodent instinct. Being in a cage together can sometimes cause them to go a little wacky and attack another one. I had two teddys once but while I was away to Florida for a week one bit the others head so the poor things eye was sticking out. We brought it to the vet and they drained water out of its brain but it was suffering so we had to get him put down. A kid I used to baby sit for had 2 hampsters and one completely decapitated the other. It seems common. I guess they should be separated, as they seem more happy and peaceful living alone.
